DeBroglie-Bohm Guidance Equations for Arbitrary Hamiltonians
نویسنده
چکیده
In a pilot-wave theory, an individual closed system is described by a wavefunction ψ(q) and configuration q. The evolution of the wavefunction and configuration are respectively determined by the Schrödinger equation and guidance equation. The guidance equation states that the velocity field for the configuration is given by the quantum current divided by the density |ψ(q)|2. We present the currents and associated guidance equations for any Hamiltonian given by a differential operator. These are derived directly from the Schrödinger equation, and also as Noether currents arising from a global phase symmetry associated with the wavefunction in configuration space.

Why Isn't Every Physicist a Bohmian?
This note collects, classifies and evaluates common criticism against the deBroglie-Bohm theory, including Ockham’s razor, asymmetry in the deBroglie-Bohm theory, the “surreal trajectory” problem and relativistic generalizations. This controversy highlights that even in science theories can not solely be evaluated based on their empirical confirmation.
متن کاملOn Epstein’s trajectory model of non-relativistic quantum mechanics
In 1952 Bohm presented a theory about non-relativistic point-particles moving along deterministic trajectories and showed how it reproduces the predictions of standard quantum theory. This theory was actually presented before by deBroglie in 1926, but Bohm’s particular formulation of the theory inspired Epstein to come up with a different trajectory model. The aim of this paper is to examine th...
متن کاملGeometry and Quantum Mechanics
Attempts for a geometrical interpretation of Quantum Theory were made, notably the deBroglie-Bohm formulation. This was further refined by Santamato who invoked Weyl's geometry. However these attempts left a number of unanswered questions. In the present paper we return to these two formulations, in the context of recent studies invoking fuzzy spacetime and noncom-mutative geometry. We argue th...
متن کاملGravity and the Quantum Potential
We review some material connecting gravity and the quantum potential and provide a few new observations. The main theme is that in utilizing a conformal (Weyl) geometry the metric plus the Weyl vector plus the quantummass field determine spacetime geometry. There are strong connections to deBroglie-Bohm style ideas in quantum theory.
متن کاملOn the Aharonov-Bohm Hamiltonian
Using the theory of self-adjoint extensions, we construct all the possible hamiltonians describing the non relativistic Aharonov-Bohm effect. In general the resulting hamiltonians are not rotationally invariant so that the angular momentum is not a constant of motion. Using an explicit formula for the resolvent, we describe the spectrum and compute the generalized eigenfunctions and the scatter...
